The Emanuel Ensemble was founded by Anna Stokes in 2001 and is dedicated to exploring music old and new, focusing predominantly on works for "flute, violin, viola, cello" and "flute, cello & piano".
The Emanuel Ensemble have given an array of performances both as a "flute, cello, piano trio" and "flute & string Trio". Recitals have included the Purcell Room as part of the "Fresh" Recital Series, Nicholas Maw's 70th Birthday Concert at Wigmore Hall,Conway Hall, Cadogan Hall - Sir James Galway International Masterclass, Leeds International Concert Series, Schubert Society of Great Britain, St Martin-in-the-fields, National Gallery, Amersham Concert Club, Letchworth Concert Society , Whitchurch Purcellians Concert Society, V & A Museum and St Georges Church, Mayfair amongst others. Other performances have included venues such as Villa D'este - Lake Como - Italy, Kensington Palace, National Gallery, V & A Museum in the presence of HRH Prince Charles as well as performing at a charity event at St James’s Palace in the presence of Princess Alexandra. The quartet have also given a workshop for 'Arts & Business'.
The interesting combination of flute, violin, viola and cello enables the group to perform an array of music from Baroque to Contemporary styles. Due to the versatile nature of the ensemble, they are also able to include instruments such as the piano, harp, voice, percussion, woodwind and other string instruments where neccessary.
